Rug Cleaning and Repair in Los Angeles

When it comes to rug cleaning we should have two concerns:

1- Our health and well being
2- Protecting our rug which means protecting our investment

There are so much food stuff, protein, dust and dirt inside the pile of our rugs which act like sandpaper. The protein and food stuff provide the ground for the moths to appear and grow and later on damage the fiber of the rug. The dust and dirt also damage the fiber of the rug which is usually wool or silk and is very fragile. By having your rug professionally cleaned, you can protect your health. When we walk and live on dirty rugs, the dust and dirt is released and floated in the air and we breathe them. This would put our health in danger. Therefore by cleaner rugs, we can have cleaner and healthier homes.

That is why we recommend to customers to have their rugs professionally cleaned by us once in a year. We at www.LosAngelesRugCleaning.com not only clean their rugs, but give them tons of literature on rug cleaning and care free of gharge.

RugMaster and Rug Blogs on the Internet!!

I searched for Rug Blogs on the Internet and this is the surprise I found:

Can you believe having 3,740,000 entries for rug blogs on the net? Who are these people who produce such a huge wealth of information? Luckily, my blog, RugMaster.blogspot.com
is number one and comes on top after one year from its inception. This gives me the incentive to keep on writing real stories and posting them on my blog which is my electronic diary.

Thank to many readers who have supported me.

Do Rug Blogs Work? Do Rug Blogs Have Readers and Visitors?

Do Rug Blogs Work? Sure! But you got to have the will and work hard. I registered my rug blog on Oct. 30, 2007. In a couple of days, I will have its first anniversary! It has been an exciting year for me on this regard.

For the first few weeks, I could not find my rug blog on the Internet my self. But after one year of posting real stories and reports and having thousands of visitors, my RugMaster.Blogspot.com has become number one rug blog on the Internet! WOW!

It is 5:55 am and I better get some sleep before I go to work. I will write on my lovely blog in a separate post.

A Slow Saturday With Only One Bakhtiar Rug For Cleaning

Yesterday was a very quiet day suitable to do some paper work. We were busy again with our new carpet cleaners web site and its promotion. A young lady dropped off a Persian Bakhtiar rug for cleaning. This rug was not dirty at all, but it is good to see that some customers care about their rug and actually their health since we all breathe whatever is inside the pile of the rugs we walk on.

We also took care of stain removal and repair of few hand knotted and area rugs.

I was at work until 6:00 pm.

Carpet Cleaners in Los Angeles

Many carpet cleaners claim that they clean Oriental rugs while their real job is to clean wall to wall carpeting with portable cleaning machines or truck mount equipments. This is not real Oriental carpet and hand knotted or area rug cleaning.

First of all, the workers who go to different homes to clean wall to wall carpeting do not know rugs, their construction, their fiber, their dye and their age; therefore cannot tell whether the rugs would bleed, shrink or damage if they clean them with ordinary carpet cleaning method and chemicals. Second, this kind of cleaning would move the food stuff, protein, dust and dirt from the surface of the rug to the inner part of the pile. Of course the price of this type of low quality rug cleaning may look cheaper to the rug owners if they do not know the difference between professional rug cleaning and a cleaning done at home with regular carpet cleaners. Or maybe the owners know the difference but their concern is the price, while having a rug professionally cleaned is investing in preserving a valuable rug.

A Busy Friday With Rug Cleaning & Sales in Los Angeles

On Friday September 24, 08, we were unexpectedly busy with selling different rugs to different customers. Few clients who had left their rugs for cleaning and repair showed up and picked up their Oriental carpets. Early in the morning, we also picked up an antique Persian Heriz carpet and a very old and antique Isfahan rug for cleaning and repairing the selvages.

My son Ashkan worked the whole day on our new Oriental Carpet Cleaners web site and its pictures and text. This new site is a rug cleaners and rug repair web site to serve our customers in greater Los Angeles.

Rug Cleaning Los Angeles: Another Example of Dirty Rugs

In my earlier post, I wrote about customers who do not have time to have their rugs cleaned. Or they do not want to spend (read invest) in cleaning of their rugs.

Here I post few photos of another dirty rug we received yesterday for cleaning. It is a very nice and big hand knotted Indianan rug, but not in a very good condition as regards cleaning.

Rug Cleaning Los Angeles: Expenditure or Investment

Some times we receive or pick up very dirty rugs for professional cleaning. I do not know and do not ask why the customer has not cleaned this rug for many years. Some of them maybe busy. Some maybe concerned with the cost.

When it comes to carpet and rug cleaning, we should have two concerns. First and the foremost is our health (myself, my family, and my pets). We breath what we walk on. Second, the life of our rug. By cleaning our rug, we will extend its life. It is not spending on cleaning. It is investing in our health and in our Persian, Oriental or area rugs.

Here I post few photos of a rug we picked up yesterday for cleaning.

Restoring an Antique Textile and a Fabric With Sentimental Value

A customer brought in an antique fabric he had found in his grand mother's closet after she passed away. This beautiful piece of fabric was made of silk with oxidized metal fringes. It looked at least 150 years old with an older coats of arm sewn and attached to it in the center. It looked European probably from Italy or Spain.

We restored the pieces by one of our restoration experts and our customer fell in love with it again after he saw it restored. He then too it to a specialized frame store and framed it to hang it on the wall behind his bed to always remember his beloved grandma.

This customer liked our service so much and bought a Persian hand knotted 9 x 12 Hamedan rug from us.

Dog Urine Stain Removal From a Chinese Hand Knotted Rug in Los Angeles

We picked up a hand knotted Chinese wool rug from a customer's house for cleaning and stain removal. All kinds of stains were on the rug including dog urine stains in the border and in the background, coffee stains and food, oil, and wine stains. We sent the rug to washing factory to be cleaned by water and soap. We usually flat dry the rugs in the son and do not hang them because in many instances the colors bleed and run into the brighter areas and make stains. After we received the rug back from the cleaning we worked on this rug for a week or so to remove all the stains.

Our customer was happy to see the rug in a new and fresh look without any stains on it.

Rug Weaving or Repair: Which One Is Tougher?

Rug weaving is a very tough job and requires a lot of patience. Rug repair on the other hand needs a lot of expertise and patience as well. The rug weaver only makes a similar type of rug with the same weaving technique each time he/she wants to make a rug. The repair man/woman should be familiar with all the techniques and should be able to match the weave, design and color of each rug to be repaired.
