The American Sarouk is perhaps one of the more popular designs of the 20th century.  The American Sarouk was a genre of rug which was woven in Sarouk, Persia.  The demand, importation and production of such carpets was very high from the 1920's through the 1950's.  While the American Sarouk varied greatly in thickness, some of the more identifiable characteristics include the following:
1. American Sarouks often feature a red background with blue border, or blue background with red border.  While the color of red varied greatly from a dusty rose to a deep wine red, the use of these reds was almost guaranteed to come with a deep blue.  There were few exceptions to these color combinations.  Blue backgrounds seem to be less commonly found.
2. American Sarouks were most often produced with an allover "floral spray" pattern.  While some American Sarouks did feature medallions, they are found in far less frequency.  The floral sprays basically were set into proportion with the size of the carpet, however looked like a cluster bouquet of flowers often in a diamond shape covering the field.

Antique Signed Amoghli Mashad Carpet Rug

We have a beautiful signed Amoghli Mashad carpet in our showroom here in Los Angeles. The size of this antique hand knotted Persian Mashad rug  is 9' 11" x 13' 5" and considering the age, it is in good condition. This was probably made in the late 1920's in the city of Mashad in north east Iran. Amoghli brothers were originally from Tabriz who migrated to Mashad, a holly city with Imam Reza's Shrine. The younger brother was named Ali Khan and the older one was Abdol Mohammad. The quality of the weave, dye, and wool was very high and the royal court of Iran was one of their repeat clients. There were several of Amoghli carpets in the palaces of the Shah of Iran.
This particular rug which we have for sale on the behalf of our client is signed "Amoghli 110" which was the signature of Ali Khan Amoghli. The foundation of this rug is cotton and the pile is made of Lamb's wool. It has a one-inch silk guarding borders on the sides to protect the rug from damages. The design of this rug is corner central medallion with flowers and details. The design is also similar to the Ardabil carpets of Victoria & Albert Museum of London and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, LACMA. Our asking price for this museum quality antique Mashad Amoghli carpet is $38,500.

Sheepskin Lambskin Rugs Cleaning Los Angeles

We picked up a couple of rugs and eight big sheepskin lambskin cushions for cleaning from a client who had two big sofas also covered/upholstered with sheepskins. They had some live and flying moths in them when we inspected them in the house. We have done the wet washing and deep cleaning of the rugs and the cushions. We have also done moth guarding to make sure moths do not comeback to these beautiful sheepskins and rugs to infest and damage them. We'll do the same to the sofas at the home when we deliver the rugs and lambskin cushions.

Two of these sheepskin cushions have damages. We're going to fix these and bring them back to life before our delivery.

Stain Removal Color Run Color Bleeding on Rugs in Los Angeles

A couple brought in a very nice hand knotted Persian Kashan rug. The wife had washed the rug at home to save some money, but it bled and color run and color bleeding was all over the rug. She had panicked and called around to see what she had to do. One of her friends recommended using yogurt to remove the color run. Not only this did not help, it made it worse and left another big mark on the rug.

She looked online and found us on the Internet. We helped her out and did stain removal. Although she was a very picky customer who paid so much attention to details of our stain removal, she was very happy with the results. She learned it the hard way that rug cleaning is not a "Do it yourself at home" job.

If you need rug cleaning, rug repair or stain removal, you have to find and hire a professional. It needs a lot of experience to wash a rug. It is not as easy as it may sound.

Rug Cleaning at Rug Ideas in Los Angeles

We do professional rug cleaning and repair. We do not do dry or steam cleaning as this is only surface cleaning and the type of job that wall-wall carpet cleaners do.

What we do is wet washing and deep cleaning of the rugs we receive. Our process starts with inspection and taking pictures of each rug followed by dusting and this is to make sure all the dust, dirt and particles which are deposited in the pile are removed. Then we use rug shampoo and work on the rugs to make sure rugs receive full bath. We also use special type of enzyme to remove/dissolve the stains. We rinse the rugs thoroughly to make sure shampoo and enzymes do not reside in the rugs. We extract the water and dry the rugs naturally.
Our process takes about a week and rugs should be perfectly dry before we can deliver them; otherwise they would smell. Before delivery or pick up by customers, we do full inspection to make sure rugs are ready. We then take pictures again and let our client know that the rug is ready for pick up or delivery. We pay attention to details and spend extra time to care for each individual rug. We are certified and have been in rug business since 1953. It's been a long journey of 60 years, but this has been a joyful adventure full of real and fun stories.
