For a career day and to familiarize students with different professions,
I spoke before the kids in a public middle school in New York City about rugs and how they are made. If new generation knows more about rugs, they begin to appreciate art and culture and then they distance themselves from violence and crime.

Dr Sobhe has a very good idea to inform younger people about the art and culture found in Oriental rug traditions. Every carpet retailer around the world should follow his example and go to the schools in their towns and offer a program like Dr Sobhe did. Kids are curious and talking about rugs as art and artifact is an exciting adventure. They will love it...and they will remember!

ReplyDeleteCareer Day is a great opportunity for younger generations to learn about cultural traditions. Having Dr. Sobhe teach about the beauty of Persian Rugs at a public school in New York adds to the curiosity of these students and opens a new door to their future.
