You want to save money and do not
professionally deep clean your rug and put it in a plastic trash bag and leave in the basement or garage. Moths will have a party at your expense and invite their friends and family members over and celebrate. Look what happens to your hand made beautiful rug after one year.
Moth loves wool (read protein)and feed from it. Moth does not like cotton (read cellulose). The larvae is inside the pile of rugs and as soon as situation permits (darkness and humidity), they grow and infest the pile which is wool. They bite the knots and eat the wool.
