In an earlier post I wrote about a Persian carpet workshop I had in my rug gallery on April, 4, 2011. An enthusiast group of 45 people attended this 3-hour free rug workshop on a Saturday morning and asked any question they had on rugs. We showed three exclusive videos of Qaahqai tribe, Afshar tribe and Ardabil carpet making, cleaning and restoration and then I talked about different aspects of Persian rugs. The youngest participant was a very smart boy probably around 10 years old who had attended the workshop by his dad. You will see his picture in siut with a lovely blue tie!
We had fun and I believe it was educational and informative for the participants. After we finished, they did not want to leave our rug store.

Thank you so much Dr. Kay for your hospitality at the rug workshop. I had such a great time and learned so much about the different aspects of Persian rugs. I was absolutely amazed at the variety of rugs you have at your gallery! Thank you once again!

Thank you Brad. It was a pleasure to have you with us. Yes, Persian carpet is folk art made by real artists and real people for the people. That is the most practical type of art which can be used and enjoyed.

I'm glad someone is still thinking about he real values. For me having a Persian carpet in the living is like a bless. My grandma gave it to me before she died and told me I should never sell it even if in a few years it could cost a fortune.
ReplyDeleteEven if I thought about selling the carpet a few years ago, the redesign process that took over my house helped me use this rug at it's true value.
Thank for making this type of rug gallery.I really missed because i also want to attend this free rug workshop.
