The most expensive rug ever sold was a roughly 6' x 9' (almost 6 m2) hand knotted Persian rug from the famous city of Kerman, in south east Iran. This 360-year old rug belonged to the American rich senator named William Clark who had bought this rug in 1920 when he took a trip to France. He later donated this 17th century Kerman carpet to Corcoran Museum in Washington D.C. This museum needed money, so they sold the rug in an auction (Sotheby's) last year, in June 2013 in New York, for the record breaking amount of $33,765,000.
Now, we have a replica of this magnificent carpet in our showroom on sale for $3,376 only. That is 1/10,000 of the price of the original one. Come in and see this beautiful work of art, and if you like and while we have it, own it.
