Zebra Hide, Zebrahide, Zebra Skin Cleaning and Repair in Los Angeles

A Zebra Hide was brought in by a client a couple of weeks ago. He mentioned that the hide did not stay flat on the floor and wanted us to install backing and leather straps on the edges to put some weight on it.
First we did a test to see if it was dirty. Yes, it was. We cleaned it before we started the rest of the process.
Our client wanted a light color and preferably white backing and this was what we selected and cut to fit the size of the Zebra hide.

We then started the process of installation of the backing which took us a day to finish. After this, was the process of sewing the straps on the edges by one of our repair personnel on site. We had to use tiny stitches so they would not show and this was time consuming.

Our client was so happy with the result of our cleaning and installation of the backing and straps on the borders of his Zebra hide. He came back in a day and brought us another custom repair job. This time, a real Chita blanket for repair. I will write about this in a separate post.

Zebra Hide, Zebra Skin Cleaning and Repair in Los Angeles

We clean and repair many types of animal skins and hides. Cowhides, sheepskins (Lambskins), Zebra hides,  Chinchilla skins, and goat skins are among these. We love to save and preserve them. Few days ago, we received this real African Zebra skin for cleaning. This client also wanted to have backing to put more weight on it so it stays flat on the floor.

We hand cleaned this Zebra hide and pictures show how we installed the backing. We are going to sew a canvas straps on all borders to put more weight on the edges to stay flat on the floor.

Persian Antique Rug Repair in Los Angeles

We receive many antique Persian carpets for repair. Each Persian rug has it's own construction, weave, design, and material. If reweaving is needed, first we have to make foundations on which we can tie the knots and do the reweave. In this process, we have to match the construction and knot density. Matching the design and color palette are the other two very important matters that we have to pay attention to.

Here, I am posting pictures of an antique Farahan we received from a very respected rug dealer and collector. We are doing the repair and restoration of this unique piece. In the last picture, we can see the process of making the foundation.

Sunday Fun Day. No Rugs Today.

Our rug gallery was closed today like every Sunday. We had Ashkan, our older son over for breakfast in the morning. It was great to spend some quality time with him and the rest of the family.
In the afternoon, my wife and I went to Home Depot and Costco for shopping. We then went for a long walk to Marina Del Rey. It was fun and relaxing.

In the evening, we went to a nice restaurant in Culver City called the Public Education 310. We had a light dinner and returned home. It was a fun day Sunday without rugs!

Persian Rug Repair in Los Angeles

We received an antique Isfahan rug for repair. Three corners were damaged and these pictures show how we repaired it.

First we made foundation and then we rewove the missing part. To do this, we had to match the design, the color, and the construction. After the repair was done, we sheared the repair and removed the extra wool pile. The result came out great.

Rug Cleaning and Rug Dusting in Los Angeles

We do professional rug cleaning, rug repair, stain removal, and appraisal in Los Angeles. After we receive a rug for cleaning, we inspect it first to find any possible damages which should be secured before cleaning. The next important step is dusting. In many cases, since our customers do not see the dust, they think their rugs are not dirty. This is not true. Dust and water become mud and that is why we do complete dusting of the rugs before we start our deep and wet washing rugs for the best result.

Here I am posting few pictures of a hand knotted Persian Kerman carpet we received for cleaning yesterday. Our client did not think it was very dirty until we did the dusting. With this kind of time consuming dusting, we can have cleaner rugs and this would lead to more clients satisfaction and this is what we're looking for.
