Sisal Rug Downsizing

We had an interesting rug job recently when a musician brought in his Sisal rug. This musician is a session drummer and had been using the rug under his drum kit, but there was a problem. The rug was a little too big   framed around the drum kit so the drummer wondered if we could do something about it. We said, "absolutely!". We told him we could definitely downsize the rug to the exact dimensions he needed and that it would look like it was bought that way. Funny enough, the drummer had the exact dimensions on hand that he needed, so we did the measurements while he was there to confirm before we did any cutting and got straight to work. We made perfect cuts to the Sisal rug and then took the canvas borders off the cut piece to reattach to the newly sized rug. Take a look at the results below:

The completed downsizing came out fantastic and was now the perfect size to frame the drummer's kit. When seeing the finished rug, the drummer exclaimed his happiness in now having the perfect rug to play onstage with during his shows. And that was music to our ears as well as his. Rug Downsizing

At Rug Ideas we sometimes get rugs that come in that have an area with extreme damage. Often times it is due to water damage, other times it is a pet that tore apart a piece of the rug, and we have even seen normal wear and tear damage a rug to the point of no return. These rugs are not lost! We can do custom jobs of downsizing the rug so that the damaged area is taken out and then the rug is re-secured to make in essence a new rug. The damaged piece is easily visible in the above pics and that was the area that we surgically removed from the rest of the rug. After the offending piece was removed, one of our master weavers did the binding to get the rug's structure back to normal. All the work was done by hand and the results came out great. Shag Rug - Cleaning and Repair Work

A new customer brought in his shag rug that he keeps in his home recording studio as it needed some Rug Ideas attention. Firstly, the shag was very dirty and had not been cleaned in 7 years. It had accumulated lots of stains and was worse for wear. The bottom segment of the rug had become torn and it really took away from the aesthetic. Take a look below:

The shag first went through our deep cleaning process, which involves dusting, complete wet washing and natural drying in the sun. This did wonders on all those stains! We then had one of our weavers cut above the tear in the shag and bind the whole side by hand. Take a look at the fantastic results below:

And Then There Was Two

A law office contacted us recently with a custom job request. They had a rug they wanted to use in their lobby/welcoming area but it was too large! It was a 5 x 8 rug but the largest the room could fit was a 5 x 5. Well, they brought the rug to right place because we here at Rug Ideas have done downsizing countless times before. We discussed where to do the cut during our initial conversation to make sure the rug would look great. Take a look at the before pics below:

After carefully taping the area to be cut we started work on the separation. One of our master weavers cut the rug by hand and started on binding the cut ends so that the final product would be 2 great looking, functioning rugs. We used top of the line New Zealand wool to do the binding and everything was done by hand. Take a look at the results below:

The 2 rugs look great and not only that, it's impossible to tell that they were 1 rug to begin with. The lawyer just set these down in his office yesterday and gave us a call to exclaim how happy he was with his rugs.
