Rug Samplers, Ornak, Wagireh

In the old days when graph papers were not available and commonly used in remote areas, weavers had rug samplers which were used as guides and the rugs they would like to weave.
A Bakhshayesh rug sampler from Heriz region, north west Iran.
A bidjar rug sampler from north west, Iran, Kurdistan province.
A Malayer rug sampler from north west Iran, Hamedan province.
A Sultanabad rug sampler from north central Iran, Arak province.
Another Sultanabad rug sampler from north central Iran, Arak province.

Rug samplers are collectible items and are rare to find. I love them and if I see them somewhere, try to buy them. These pictures are the courtesy of Nazmyal.
