A Great Oriental Carpet Scholar: Dr. Taher Sabahi

Dr. Taher Sabahi who lives in Torin, Italy is a great Oriental carpet scholar. Sabahi fell in love with rugs 45 years ago. He has written 18 books on different types of rugs and kilims. His latest book on 500 years of rug weaving in Kerman, Iran was published in Italian last year. This book is being translated into English and will be published in late 2009.

Taher Sabahi is the Editor in Chief of a prestigious bio-monthly journal valled Ghereh, (Knots) which is published in Torin, Italy in English, German and Italian.

Dr. Sabahi is planning to come to the U.S. for a series of lectures and presentations. He will visit Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York, and Washington D.C.

Rug Cleaning Rug Repair Los Angeles

Besides selling Oriental, area and Persian rugs, we do rug cleaning and repair. This has its own advantages and disadvantages. The down side is the hassles we encounter. Some of the customers who call us, only ask about the cost and these are the ones who want to shop around and get a deal. The second type of the customers are those who ask how we clean their Oriental carpets. For the second type, usually the quality of the work and its process is more important than the mere low pricing.

The best way of cleaning a rug by a professional (don't do it at home or you will be sorry!) is to wash and clean the rug with ample water and regular detergent without using chemicals which may damage the fiber of the rug as well as the environment. The best way of drying a carpet is to let it dry under sun without using a heated or dry room. This natural and traditional way of drying a rug will give it more shine with a much fresher look. If a rug is dried in a dry (heated) room, it may not have the shine and freshness it should. Sun is the best dryer.

We also have many types of free booklets and literature on this table to give to our prospects and clients who visit us in our rug store every day.

An educated customer can make a better decision in buying Oriental, Persian or area rugs. He or she can also use our other services better if educated. Services such as professional rug cleaning, rug repair, water damage restoration, bleeding and stain removal and rug appraisal. If our customer knows about the advantages of having a good quality rug pads and underlays, he/she will consider buying rug pads from us as well.
