Afshar Rug - Expert Repair

We had an interesting story come in during one of our customer visits recently. A repeat customer of ours brought in his beautiful Afshar rug, that we had cleaned and repaired a year earlier, that now had a tear near one of the corners. It turns out his dog managed to get a small ball under the rug and while trying to get it out, chewed/tore a small piece of the rug. Take a look below:
This Afshar is worth quit a bit of money so the owner was understandably concerned. He also knew that we do outstanding repairs so he opted for one of our master weavers to do the reweave. All the the work was done by hand and the results came out fabulous! Take a look below:
This Afhsar rug has been expertly restored and you cannot tell that this rug had ever been ripped/torn by a dog. Our customer was thrilled with the outcome of our repair work and left our store a very happy man. If you have a rug that has come across some damage due to pets, furniture, water damage, etc. bring it in to Rug Ideas where we can help step you through all your options to get it back into great shape!

Rug Repair - Dog Chewing

Last week a customer brought in a couple of rugs, one for which needed a repair done. This particular rug is a small one that the owner's dog had done some chewing on. Take a look below:
The dog in question is a puppy, and they have been known to gnaw on rugs while they are teething. We put our customer at ease when we told her we had a fix that would keep the rug symmetrical. A decision was made to shorten the rug a few inches off the bitten end and put new binding across where we did the cutting. She chose the yarn color from our extensive palate and then we put the rug into the hands of one of our weavers. Take a look at the results below:
The rug now look fantastic and you can not tell it was chewed on by a dog at all. Our customer was extremely happy with the results and we hope her dog doesn't have the same inclinations any time soon. If you have a rug that has been torn or unraveled, by a dog or by another other means, bring it in to Rug Ideas so we can step you through your options to fixing it... the Rug Ideas way!

Dog Troubles & A Deep Cleaning Solution

A new customer of ours recently brought in her favorite rug that had been soiled by her dog. Not only had her dog urinated on the rug but had also thrown up on various places on it. She had tried a home cleanser but she said it only seemed to make the problem worse. The rug also had a trouble area at the middle of 1 end of the rug. Take a look below:
This rug went through our deep cleaning process which cleans, sanitizes and deodorizes the entire carpet. Color stabilizers were used before the washing began to prevent color bleeding. When the rug was done drying the vibrancy of the colors looked absolutely great. We then had one our of weavers secure the rip at the end so that unraveling would not continue. Take a look at the results below:
When the owner came in to pick up her rug yesterday, she was ecstatic at how vibrant the rug looked and how much it looked just as it did when it was brand new. If you have a rug that has had an encounter with your pet, bring it in to Rug Ideas where we can help bring it back to life!

Dogs, Cats and Rugs

We estimate more than 70% of the rugs we wash are contaminated with pet urine. If  your rug has suffered a similar indignity, you can rest assured we successfully address this problem everyday. As long as we can clean the rug properly, we can sanitize it and the rug will be odor- free. So if your wool rug is so bad you don’t want to be in the same room with it, don’t throw it away. At least call us for a Free Cleaning Estimate.
The primary challenge with this contaminant is the absorbent nature of the wool and cotton fibers. Once urine leaves the body the pH changes from acid to alkaline. It dries as a crystal, somewhat like salt.If you ever hired a carpet cleaner to clean your rug you may have been dissatisfied with the results. It’s virtually impossible to do a thorough job using carpet cleaning techniques, cleaning agents and equipment designed to clean wall-to-wall carpeting. Some carpet cleaners recognize this. And some don’t.

We address the problem using Bio Based cleaning agents that are safe for use on wool, and deep clean the rug to thoroughly remove the contamination from inside and outside the fibers. The amount of time and effort required to totally remove the contamination varies with each rug. On occasion we have to wash the rug repeatedly to get it all out. But at Rug Ideas we are all about a little extra 'elbow grease' to make our customers happy!

Kyrgyzstan Rug - Reweaving Magic/Securing

A wife came in a few weeks ago distraught because her new dog chewed on a very special rug of her husbands, leaving in tattered in many places. Take a look below:
After calming the wife down we stepped her through what options were available. The best way to bring this rug back to its original shape was to do reweaving on all the spots that had been eaten away; and this is exactly what she opted for. We let our one of our master weavers start on the job and in just a couple weeks we had results that would totally astonish the owner. Take a look at the results below:
As you can see all the bitten off pieces have been rewoven beautifully and the ends were secured to make the foundation even stronger. Our customer was absolutely thrilled; we later found out that the husband had exactly the same sentiments. If you have a rug that has been tattered/torn bring it in to Rug Ideas so we can help you with options to bring back its vibrancy and life!

Sheepskin Repair

During this spring it seems like pets have run a muck with their owner's rugs. Todays post involves a black sheepskin rug that was chewed up by a Labrador puppy. Take a look below:
The owner of the rug was quite upset when he brought in the rug, as it wasn't his dog that did the damage... it was his boss'! We quickly put his anger/distress to rest, letting him know our master weaver could restore the rug back to its original condition. The repair took about half a week and came out great. Take a look at the pics below:
There is no way to tell a dog had chewed through the sheepskin and its now ready again for use at the owners home. If you have a sheepskin that needs repair or cleaning, bring it in to us at Rug Ideas where we can help you with all of your rug needs!
