Tea Stain Removal - Isfahan Rug

Rug Ideas' headquarters is in the heart of Los Angeles but our customers bring us their carpets from far and wide. A customer sent us his gorgeous Handknotted Persian Isfahan Rug from Pennsylvania, who heard of us first through a referral from a friend. His Isfahan had acquired a nasty tea stain and was looking for someone who could handle the stain removal for such a quality carpet. Take a look below:
The tea stain had made an eyesore detracting from the beauty of the rug and we could understand the owner's frustration. We at Rug Ideas have seen all kinds of stains on all types of rugs so we knew just how to handle the situation. These jobs are delicate... too much stain removal and sometimes the design gets affected, too little and the stain remains. We had to treat the area in slow steps to ensure the process brought back the life to the rug; and right we did! Take a look at the results:
The tea stain has been removed and the Isfahan Rug now looks beautiful again. We just shipped it out to our customer today and can't wait for him to receive and see it. If your rug has acquired a stain make sure to bring it to us immediately so we can help with the stain removal process. The longer a stain sits on a rug, the more stubborn it often is to get out. Let Rug Ideas come to the rescue!

Part 2: Indian Rug Cleaning/Reweaving

Today's post follows up a previous post on the cleaning and reweaving of a large Indian Rug that we picked up from one of our customers. When we last left off the rug had been completely deep cleaned, sanitized and deodorized. With the rug in clean condition it was now time to take a look into the tear that had been caused by the previous company that attempted to clean it. Take a look at the damage below:
Our master weaver went to work on it and in about 1 week we had the finished rug. All the work was done by hand and great care was taken to color match the area. Take a look:
The owner was extremely happy with the cleaning/reweaving job and told us how the rug was one that had passed on to her by her mother. She could not wait to show her mother the like new condition it is now in. We love hearing these stories; and we love more that we could be part of the process to making it happen!

Custom Rug Job - Making of a Runner

At Rug Ideas we help rug owners get their pieces cleaned, repaired, secured & rewoven every day. We also do custom jobs like the one in today's post. A woman came in a few days ago with 3 area rugs that she had been using in her house. Take a look below:
The owner recently did some reorganizing in her home and found a perfect spot for a wide runner. The width  of the area rugs she brought in was perfect for the space and she decided that she wanted to have these pieces sewn together so that she could have a custom made runner that fir perfectly with her decor. We got to work on it right away and in just a couple days we had a new custom runner finished. Check out the results:
The owner was very excited to see her new custom runner and was ecstatic that she had now had a runner that was extra wide to fit her home space perfectly. We were happy to oblige her and see how happy the results made her. If you have an interesting idea for a custom rug job for your home call or visit us today so that we can talk you through all your options. Custom is as custom does at Rug Ideas!

Master Reweaving/Repair/Cleaning on a Tabriz Rug

Dogs seem to be having great taste in rugs this year. We received a Tabriz rug from a customer that needed a good cleaning since it had been about 3 years since its last one; this same rug also needed some more attention due to the owner's pet. The owner and her husband had gone away for a weekend getaway recently and while they were gone their dog showed his unhappiness on their beautiful Tabriz Rug. Take a look below:
The pictures above show the dog damage as well as the wear that had happened to the selvages(the sides) due to vacuuming. The first step was to secure the damaged areas so that everything would be secure for the deep cleaning process. Take a look below:
With the deep cleaning the rug was now clean, sanitized and deodorized. Now it was time for the repair; we had our master weaver do his magic and all everyone had to say with the results is, "Wow!". Take a look below:
The owner could not believe the outstanding work we did on the reweave. The sides also looked great after they were redone by hand and the colors of the rug were now vivid and beautiful from the cleaning. The rug now has a new lease on life and the owners now have to have a good heart-to-heart with their dog. We were glad we could help our customer with their damaged/dirty rug and we want to do the same for you! Bring in your dirty and damaged rugs so we can give it the Rug Ideas treatment.

Tabriz Rug Cleaning and Refringing

One of our repeat customers brought in a beautiful Tabriz Rug last week for cleaning as it had been about 2 1/2 years since its last cleaning. She loved our deep cleaning process, which involves complete wet washing, sanitizing and deodorizing. She opted for a second service of ours, refringing, for her rug because vacuuming and wear had taken their toll on the original fringes. Take a look below:
Once the deep cleaning had been completed we started to work on refringing. All the work was done by hand by one of our weavers and the results speak for themselves. Take a look below:
The owner was very happy with the cleaning and repair and has since brought back 3 other rugs that needed some attention. If you have a rug that needs a deep cleaning and or repair call us today so that we can help with all your rug needs!

World's Oldest Handknotted Rug - Pazyryk Rug

In 1949 Russian archaeologists Rudenko and Griaznov discovered the oldest known "knotted" carpet in the Pazyryk valley, on the Altai Mountains of Siberia. It is the only received carpet from Achaemenian. Although it was found in a Scythian burial-mound, nevertheless the most experts attribute it to Persia. Its design is in the same style as the sculptures of Persepolis. This becomes clear particularly in the two broad borders. The outer of the two principal border bands is decorated with a line of horsemen: seven on each side, twenty-eight in number which corresponds exactly to the number of men, who carried Xerxes thorn in Persepolis, some are mounted, while others walk beside their horses. In the inner principal band there is a line of six elks on each side in opposite direction The Square in the carpet field, occupied with large rosette, reminds the Assurbanipal palace. The carpet survived over 2000 years as where it was found, preserved in the frozen tombs of Scythian chiefs, and is now the showpiece of the Hermitage Museum of Leningrad/St. Petersburg. The intricacy of this rug suggests even at this early date, the art of carpet weaving had progressed well beyond simple rugs designed for practical purposes.

A Rug Is Not Only A Rug!

A rug is more than a rug! It is a weaver's few months to few years of life. It is a family tradition. It is a culture and sub-culture. It is art on the loom and then art on the floor. It is history. It is the identity of the village or town, city, province and the country in which it was woven. It talks. It tells stories. It walks and flies. It goes from one place to another. It is an ambassador of love, art, culture, history and traditions.

The motifs and designs represent believes and stories. They can also reflect what is happening in the village or town in which the rug was made.

The design of the rug shows if it comes from a workshop, a village or a tribe. The technique by which a rug is made and the layout of that rug shows its origin, village, tribe, province or the country.

What a big world is a small rug?! Full of mysteries, un-told stories, and histories. Out of many types of rugs, which ones are my favorite rugs? Village and tribal rugs. Why? Cause each one is like a mystery box, full of secrets and excitements.

Navajo Blanket Restoration

A good customer of ours recently brought in one of his Navajo Blankets, of which he has a great collection of. This one needed more than our deep cleaning, though. It had become torn and tattered from years of wear and tear(this blanket gets used very frequently). It held special meaning to the owner so they decided to have it cleaned and then restored. Take a look at some of the before pics:
We have worked with many Navajo Blankets in the past so we knew exactly how to help. Our master weaver handled the job and in just over a week we had the completed restoration. Take a look below:
As you can see the missing pieces were restored and the blanket looks absolutely great. Our customer had seen our work before but was still amazed at how we brought his treasured blanket back to life. If you have a sentimental rug/kilim/blanket make sure you put your trust in someone who has the expertise to help you with all of your rug needs... and that someone is Rug Ideas!

Chinese Silk Rug - Fringe Repair

A beautiful Chinese Silk Rug came in last week, brought by its owner who had a small problem they hoped we could fix. The rug was clean and in great shape but part of the fringes had been frayed/lost. They were not sure if it was because of vacuuming or because of wear and tear but it had become very unsightly to the owner who otherwise had a perfect silk rug. Take a look below:
The owner wanted to have the missing fringes restored; we were more than happy to oblige her. We had one of our master weavers start work right away. When the owner came to pick up her rug she was so happy! Take a look at the results:
This work of art is now back in perfect condition and the owner could not be happier. No matter how delicate the job, we at Rug Ideas can help you figure out how best to attack whatever rug problem you may have. Come in to our showroom so we can help you today!

Rug Water Damage - Cleaning

A water damaged machine made rug came in last week and with it and unhappy owner. Apparently a pipe burst in an upstairs neighbors apt and the resulting flood water damaged the apt below. This rug had been completely saturated by the event and when the owner tried to dry it out, it created bends in the rug as it became stiff and developed mold/mildew. Take a look below:
This owner chose to have it go through our deep cleaning process and the results came out great! The wrinkles were taken out and the stains were eliminated. Take a look at the pics below:
The owner had no idea the cleaning would bring this rug back from the dead; she was ecstatic when seeing it. If your rugs ever get water damaged bring it to Rug Ideas where we can help assess the situation and give you the best options. We recommend bringing the rugs in as soon as possible after the damage has occurred as it becomes harder to treat the problem the longer one waits(This goes for all other types of damage as well: pet urine stains, liquid spills, etc.). You can always count on the best rug service possible when you come to us!
