Our 3rd generation
family Rug, Animal Hide and Textile Company has 67 years of history. We do not
provide in-house services. On-site cleaning of movable rugs defeats the purpose
of cleaning as we cannot thoroughly dust, wash and rinse out the shampoo which
will collect sticky dirt after it dries. They cannot be properly dry on
your floor as well and creates the chance to mold to grow in their
construction.
We have a 10-Step Wash Process with hypoallergenic dusting and actual hand washing and
deep cleaning in our own state-of-the-art facility with brand new equipment in
Van Nuys. Unlike many others, we do not outsource. We’re the SOURCE.

The cost of hand washing

We received this 7’x10’ Belgian are rug with a lot of mold for professional cleaning. This is some of the dust we extracted from it. Shag rugs with high piles were very popular in the 1980's but they're back again. Hand washing and deep cleaning of them is our specialty. We dust them first in our stat-of-the-art tumble duster to make sure all the dust, dirt, dry soil and allergens are removed. Then we wash them with pressure washer on the back and face. The next step is shampooing ans enzyming them followed with thorough rinsing to make sure no residue is left in the construction. After this comes the extraction of water by our centrifuge machine and then drying. This is the traditional way combined with the modern technology.
After they are completely dry, we do inspection and quality control to make sure the job is done properly and your rug looks its best. If needed, rugs would be washed again or more detailing, stain removal and post service jobs will be done of course at no extra cost.

Some of the rugs we receive for servicing are ordinary rugs and some of them are absolutely gorgeous and outstanding with histories and stories. This rug is one of the good ones from Kerman made in the workshop of Oriental Carpet Manufacturers OCM after they opened up their offices and workshops in Iran in 1911. This hand knotted Persian Kerman rug belongs to a celebrity client of ours and we just washed and restored it. This was a big piece of 12' x 18'.
There were a group of British entrepreneurs who opened up offices and workshops in Turkey to make and import hand made rugs to reply to the growing demand for Oriental rugs. They then expanded their work and entered the Iranian carpet production.

Let's know who's behind the scene to take care of your rugs, tapestries, animal hides etc. Dr. Kay Sobhe is a second generation rug expert, a Certified Rug Appraise (CRS) and a Certified Rug Specialist (CRA). He's highly educated with two masters degrees and a Ph.D. an alumni of the University of Southern California.
Kash Sobhe is a 3rd generation rug expert and what he does is his passion. He holds a Bachelor's of Science in Marketing from the California State University Northridge, CSUN. He's the only Certified Master Rug Cleaner in the greater Los Angeles. He is a Certified Fiber Care Specialist (CFCS), and a Certified Color Restoration Specialist (CCRS). He loves to handle problematic items and he always takes the job to the next level.

Approx. 6 months ago, it was imperative that my machine made Belgium rug be cleaned. It is special to me as it once belonged to my grandmother. Without a "connection", I took a chance with "Rug Ideas". Well God was with me that day!
The rug was cleaned, the pile was combed all in the correct position & the colors became more vibrant. I was very pleased. However now I had to begin cleaning my gorgeous Super Kazak rugs from Pakistan..I was hesitant. I was told that cleaning of these rugs were "hard" on them.

We had a very busy Saturday at work here at Rug Ideas. Jenny a radio producer at KCRW here in Los Angeles visited us fr the second time. Jenny is also a Desperate Housewives actress. She is working on a reality type of show and wanted to see how we do our job. She was with us for four hours. She followed us around without interrupting us and just watched and recorded what we did. We picked up 10 rugs from a client for cleaning and moth treatment a couple of weeks ago. We cleaned all of them and did the moth treatment. They were not sure about the repair of rugs and said they would stop by after we're done with the rugs to take a look at them. They came in 3 days ago and inspected each piece. They were very happy with the result of our professional deep cleaning and hand washing. They wanted us to repair those which needed the repair. To make them happy, I told them that we do patching and color match of one of the pieces free of charge and they loved this free offer.
This Hamedan rug had an old patch which looked faded and ugly. After we did the repair of the side bindings by one of on-site repair personnel, we did the color match and the look and appearance of the rug was improved and way better than what it was.
There was also a bad hole on another part of the same rug. We patched it with a somehow similar type of patch and the outcome was good as you can see in the above pictures. This was a free of charge service for a customer who gave us 10 rugs and they deserved to receive this service.

Three weeks ago, we received a severely damaged hand knotted Pakistan rug from a client for cleaning and repair. We did the hand wash and cleaning first. And then one of our master weavers was assigned to do the repair. He started by doing some clean ups first. Then he made the foundation on which he had to do the re-weaving.
Matching the color of the wool yarn we had to use and then matching the design and construction required a lot of care and professionalism. Our master weaver worked on the repair and re-weaving for a few days.
After re-weaving was done, he sheared the extra wool pile and did some final touch ups. The outcome of the repair was great.
Our client could not be happier when she stopped by to pick up her rug which was back to life again.
