We produce high end hand knotted Gabbeh rugs with fine quality hand spun wool and natural dye in the Province of Fars and around the famous city of Shiraz in south west Iran. All of our weavers are ladies from the Qashqai tribe in which there is a great tradition of carpet weaving and rug weaving.
These artist weavers are free to add or deduct motifs to the design of each Gabbeh rug. The knots are asymmetrical and the foundations of Gabbeh carpets are wool. Since there are no chemicals and synthetics involved in its material and dye, it is fair to say that Gabbeh is a nature, weaver and user friendly rug. Natural dye and fine local wool with long fibers make the wool lustrous. The designs are simple and children like paintings which bring peace of mind to homes and offices which use Gabbeh as floor covering. Although tribal and rural, but the abstract and cubist designs of Persian Gabbeh rugs look so modern and match the interiors of today's homes. Simplified human, animal, and tree motives are usually utilized by Gabbeh weavers who use their imaginations and the environment around them to weave such designs.
The rug you see here is a 10' x 14' hand knotted wool on wool Gabbeh with harvest gold (my favorite) color. I am not included in the rug in case if you buy it! LOL
