Doormats and No-Shoes Policy Can Help Have Cleaner Homes

With our shoes, we transfer all the dirt, dust, mud, and allergens from outside to our homes. It is always good to have outside and inside doormats to have a cleaner and healthier home.

Outside doormat should be washed and dried once in a while to function well; otherwise it does not serve the purpose.

Inside doormats should be vacuumed regularly and washed/dried properly to keep the dirt and dry soil out of the rugs, carpets and the home in general. No shoes policy if implemented, can helps us maintain our homes cleaner. It also helps to have nicer looking floors and rugs.

Doormats are not expensive and should be used at all of the entrances from the front yard, back yard, to garage and parking entrances. Depending on the climate, different types of out doormats can be used. If they do not have a rubber nonslip backing, a little piece of pad/underlay will help keep them in place and stop them from moving.

Having a shoe rack or cabinet helps to keep the shoes in one separate place. They will also look nocer and more organized and would encourage everyone to abide by the no-shoe policy.

Fringe Tassel Rug Repair at Los Angeles Rug Ceaning

Some of our clients do not like fringes at the end of their rugs. For these clients, we remove the fringes and replace them with binding/surging that we do with hand. They think fringes get stuck in vacuum cleaners or get damaged because of foot traffic and look ugly.

Most of our clients like to see fringes at both ends of their rugs. So if the fringes are damaged, we unravel the rug at the end and remove the loose ugly ends and secure the fringes of the rug. These fringes are original and part of the foundation of the rug.

These fringes looked really messed up and ugly and our client loved the new look of her rug after the repair and securing fringes.

Re-fringing and implanting fringes is another type of service we offer. Below, I have posted pictures of a silk foundation Persian Isfahan rug with ugly dirty looking damaged fringes. This customer liked to see long silk fringes at the ends of his rug.

This type of repair is the most complicated one as we have to re-weave the kilim or flat weave part. Only experienced repair technicians can do this type of end repairs.

If we receive a damaged area rug (machine made), using prefabricated fringes maybe the only option.

This new re-fringing make the rugs look beautiful and like new again.

So if you have a rug with damaged ends, bring it in, or send us a couple of pictures to discuss the options or cost. We usually can take care of the repair in less that a week by our onsite repair technicians.

Giraffehide Giraffe Hide Cleaning and Repair, Restoration in Los Angeles

We have cleaned, repaired and restored many types of animal hides and skins. The most interesting one was a Giraffehide we directly received from Africa for a client here in Los Angeles.

We hand washed this huge Giraffehide/Giraffe skin and installed backing on it. We then sewed canvas strapping on the edges so it could stay flat on the floor.

Rug Fringes Repair at Los Angeles Rug Cleaning

Fringes or as some clients call them tassels make rugs look beautiful and more authentic. Fringes get damaged by foot traffic or improper vacuuming. We can repair, restore, and re-fringe almost all types of rugs that have damages at the ends.

In the above posted pictures, we unraveled and removed the damaged fringes and secured the rugs at two ends to make sure knots do not come of.

In the above posted pictures, we did total re-fringing on these rugs and brought them back to life again.

Karastan Rugs, Karastan Carpets Cleaning and Repair in Los Angeles

We receive many Karastan carpets for cleaning and repair. Karastans are machine made rugs with wool pile and high quality dye. With good care and maintenance, they can last for generations. The company was established in 1926 in Atlanta, Georgia, and their rugs entered the market in 1928. The oldest Karastan rug we cleaned and repaired was bought in 1939 by a clients aunt. It was a big 12' x 19' rug, and like many other Karastan carpets, was damaged at the ends and fringes were coming off and the ends were unraveling.

A while ago, we received a Karastan rug of 8' 8" x 12'. This rug was water damaged and then left without being taken care off in storage for a long time. It was rotten with mildew. Our client liked this rug and wanted us to save it for her. In the first look, it did not look salvageable.

We removed all the rotten and damaged ares and down sized the rug. And then hand washed it. The result was a good looking like a brand new Karastan rug. Our client was very happy with our custom made rug.

We Can Over-Dye, Overdye, Over Dye Your Rugs and Carpets at Los Angeles Rug Cleaning

Sometimes our clients have rugs and like them, but the color does  not match the decoration and the interior design of their rooms.

We over-dyed this hand knotted Persian Kashan rug to deep blue and it came out beautiful. Now it matches the furniture and the draperies in the room.

Everything had a tone of blue in her room except her rug. We turned the rug Iris blue and she loved it. This was a hand knotted Pakistani carpet.

This client is a designer and wanted her brown hand knotted Pakistani rug to be over-dyed turquoise, and this is what we did.

It is possible to over dye a rug into a darker color. Of course, this is not as easy as it may seem in the beginning as there are many factors which come into play such as the material of the rug, height of the pile, stains in the rugs such as pet stains or bleach, etc. However by over-dyeing, we cannot make the color lighter.

If you have a rug that you love, but its color is not the color of your choice, bring it in for consultation or send us a picture so we can take a look at it and discuss the options with you. Our store is open six days a week.

Persian Heriz Rugs, Heriz Carpets Cleaning and Repair in Los Angeles

We love Heriz carpets. Many rug collectors, dealers, designers, and private individuals buy and collect heriz rugs. Heriz is a very small town close to the city of Tabriz in north west Iran.

Heriz rugs have cotton foundation and thick Lamb's wool pile when they are new. By the passage of time and foot traffic, the pile wears out and goes down and the rug becomes thinner. Heriz rugs have geometric designs and in most of the case, you see a big geometric medallion in the center of the rug.

This client of ours had not cleaned this big 12' x 17' family Heriz rug for 35 years. We cleaned and brought this beautiful carpet back to life and he fell in love with it again.

This is another beautiful Heriz carpet that we recently washed and restored. We rewove all the damaged areas.

Repair was done by one of our on-site master weavers under our strict supervision. The client loved the result and gave us a very old and beautiful but damaged antique Persian Malayer rug for cleaning and repair.
