Oriental and Persian Rugs

We cleaned up our rug gallery on Thursday. We removed a rack that had machine made rugs on it. We will not be getting more machine made rugs as we are putting our focus back on hand made rugs.
Persian and Oriental rugs are true investment and true art. They have a soul behind them and they are part of an artist's life. They take anywhere from a few months to a few years to be made where machine made rugs are made in matter of minutes and hours.
We decided that rather than selling machine made rugs which are almost the same hassle as selling handmade ones, we will put more focus on educating our customers about our handmade rugs. If a customer is going to buy a 4 x 6 rug for $145, why not buy a 100% natural die, hand spun wool, handwoven rug for $300? They get to enjoy the art of it, the naturalness of it, in addition to the fact that rather than throwing their $145 rug away after few years, they made an investment. Good quality handmade rugs appreciate in value, so a rug that you buy for $300, if taken care of properly, you can sell for more in a course of few years.

This is why we will not be ordering any more area rugs and will enjoy having handmade rugs in our gallery. We will however continue cleaning and repairing all types of rugs, including handmade rugs, machine made rugs, Flokati rugs, etc.

It is nice to hear that you are only selling hand woven rugs. They are a great investment and I agree they do have a soul.
From a rug cleaners point of view I see a lot of machine made rugs that cannot look nice after years of use and they have to be replaced.
I hope that soon rug buyers will also see the value of paying a little more for a rug that can handle every day use and bounce back.

hand made rugs and kilims are the most useful types of every day art compared with paintings, tile work, calligraphy, and etc. They appreciate by the passage of time while you can enjoy and use them.
