Bokhara Repair

At Rug Ideas, we see new rugs every day that need cleaning, repair or both. But what may surprise people is that we often have other rug stores/dealers as clients who often need repair on their rugs. And when they need a repair they contact us as we have over a half century of expertise in dealing with expert repairs of all types of rugs. Last week one of our rug dealer clients came in with a Bokhara rug that needed some attention. Taker a look below:

As you can see the ends were unraveling which is not only an eyesore but also meant that if it continued it could possibly unravel into the design of the rug. Luckily the owner decided to take action before that happened. We are well known in the community for outstanding repair work and we have a great team of master weavers to repair the myriad of problems that a rug may encounter. He knew the rug would be in good hands with us, and we proceeded with the repairs right away. All the work was done by hand, and the securing of the ends came out great. Take a look below at the results:

This rug is now in great condition; look wise as well as structurally sound. If you have a rug that is doing some unraveling as well, bring it in to Rug Ideas where we can stop the damage and get it back to it's former beauty!

Moroccan Rug - Cleaning and Repair

A customer recently brought in a rug of theirs that they bought in Morocco during a vacation. It has been in their home for the past 7 years and had never had a cleaning. Another area of attention was the ends of the rug, which were slowly unraveling. The design of the rug was at stake and this rug needed to be secured. Take a look at before pics of the rug below:
We first secured the ends before it went through our deep cleaning process so that any further unraveling would not happen(see below):
After the cleaning the rug was looking great, with the colors now vibrant again. The last step was to secure the ends. This was done by one of our master weavers who did the whole job by hand to make sure the foundations of this Moroccan were strong and secure. Take a look at how much that securing makes a difference below:
This Moroccan rug is now in excellent condition due to the deep cleaning and securing of the ends. Our customer was extremely happy when they saw the results, and remarked at how they couldn't wait to put it back into their house. If you have a rug that is in need of a good cleaning, or that needs repair so that it can be structurally sound again, bring it into Rug Ideas where our expertise translates into happy customers!

Handknotted Rug - Cleaning and Repair

We went to a client's house recently who had 11 rugs that had been stored in their garage but had not been inspected in about 5 years. To their surprise almost all of the stored rugs had some form of moth infestation. After being initially horrified by the infestation, they wanted to proceed with cleaning and restoration to help save what rugs we could. One was a beautiful red handknotted rug that had always been in their household but now looked in dire need of attention. Moth casing could be seen all over the rug and the ends were unraveling a lot, eating into the design of the rug. Take a look below:
The first thing we did to start the process was give it a deep cleaning. This would ensure that all the moth larvae would be eliminated and would also make sure the rug was sanitized and deodorized. After the cleaning and drying was complete we had one of our master weavers give attention to the ends of the rug so as to stop the unraveling. It was all done by hand and in no time we had the rug's ends secured. This will help greatly in making sure the rug didn't lose its structure and is much more aesthetically pleasing as well. Take a look at the results below:
This handknotted rug now looks great, is totally clean, rid of moth and larvae, and has it's structure saved by having the securing of the ends done. We recommend that everyone who has their rugs in storage or in a garage as it is now moth season. Make sure no moth or moth casings are there, and if there is, bring it to Rug Ideas right away so we can help you with any cleaning and/or repairs it may need. We've seen some unfortunate incidents where the customers' rugs were beyond saving and could not be fixed. So a little preventive measure like scheduled inspections could save those pieces of art that mean so much to you!

The Rug Ideas Difference

Besides our outstanding service for our customers, one great thing that sets us apart from our competitors is our attention to detail. Take our rug cleaning process for example. When a rug comes into our store we do a thorough evaluation of the rug to determine its construction and how best to treat it, whether it be for repair or cleaning. Take a look at a Navajo Blanket that came in recently below:
This Navajo Blanket had MANY holes that spanned the entire blanket. While most cleaners would just hope for the best, we at Rug Ideas know that these holes have the danger of growing bigger once it starts getting deep cleaned. To prevent this we secured all those areas so they could hold together through the cleaning. Take a look at the secured area below:
It is this attention to detail that keeps our customers happy and coming back. We have love for rugs and it shows with the Rug Ideas process. If you love your rug and desire a team that will put that same kind of love into repairing/cleaning it then come to Rug Ideas, where we can help give it the TLC and attention it deserves!
