Kilim Repair - Securing/Fixing a Rug Cavity

One of our return customers came in recently with a Kilim that had been handed down to him by his family and was used in his household for a few years. It was a beautiful piece but unfortunately a "cavity" had started to form on the ends causing the design to start unraveling. Take a look at the pics below:
If left with no repair done the threads would continue to unravel and cause the design to be lost as well as having the foundations of the rug weakened so that further unraveling would happen at a faster rate. Good thing our customer came in for the repair as we had the solution to not only bring back the pleasing aesthetics of the kilim but also secure it for years to come. We had one of our master weavers do the securing; take a look at the kilim repair below:
The securing was done totally by hand and with the repair done the unraveling has stopped and the foundation is much stronger and secure. If you have a kilim/rug/carpet that needs attention because of a growing "cavity", then come to the "dentist" for rugs... Rug Ideas! We can help restore your treasured pieces and make them usable and beautiful again.
